The Inside View
The popularity of our architecture tour proves that visitors are still fascinated by the museums’ history and renovation. Article snippet: “I think people are excited to be inside this great building, and they’re just fascinated to learn more about it.”
A Nod toward History
On May 27, the Harvard Art Museums received a preservation award from the Cambridge Historical Commission for the restoration of our 32 Quincy Street facility.
Snow Big Deal
The snowiest winter on record presented new challenges for Harvard Art Museums’ facilities and operations staff. Many workers put in long hours clearing more than 500 tons of snow from the brand-new roof, as well as keeping walkways and sidewalks passable.
Collections management staff at the Harvard Art Museums recently removed a protective material from Structure, a 1934–35 fresco by Lewis Rubenstein that had been moved to a new space during the museums’ renovation project.
We’re proud to announce our LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
A Job Well Done
After successfully rebuilding the Harvard Art Museums, and more than a decade at the helm, Director Thomas W. Lentz will step down on July 1.
An Artful Bite
New at the Harvard Art Museums is Jenny’s Cafe, a spot to grab a light meal or snack. Managed by The Catered Affair, the cafe sells organic coffee, small savory or sweet bites, baked goods, and more.
