We recently received a $5 million gift from the German Friends of the Busch-Reisinger Museum (Verein der Freunde des Busch-Reisinger Museum) to support one of three art study centers planned for our new facility. What are art study centers? They are intimate spaces where visitors can view objects from our collection upon request. Our director, Thomas W. Lentz, describes the art study centers as having a uniquely central role at the Harvard Art Museums—equal in weight and importance to exhibition spaces. We’re very excited to have such a distinct feature in our new facility. Founded in Germany in 1983, the German Friends of the Busch-Reisinger Museum is a group of more than 240 members who support the work of the Busch-Reisinger Museum, with a special emphasis on teaching and research activities. We’d like to thank the German Friends for their generous gift and continued support.
