Materials Lab Workshop: Drypoint Printing with Noriko Saitō [AT CAPACITY]
Workshop
Harvard Art Museums32 Quincy Street, Cambridge,
This event is at capacity.
This workshop is led by contemporary Japanese artist Noriko Saitō, who crafts lively, whimsical drypoint prints. Her monumental monochrome print Mori yo! (Hey, Forest!), on view in the current exhibition Japan on Paper, exemplifies Saitō’s playful, expressive approach to the drypoint medium, which she uses to capture her day-to-day experiences. While part of a rich tradition of printmaking in Japan, Saitō’s work represents a deeply personal approach to drypoint printing that responds to global and local trends.
In this workshop, Saitō will guide participants through the drypoint printing process and discuss its significance to her work. Through experimentation with the tools and techniques of drypoint printing, participants will share a unique experience in printmaking alongside the artist.
This program is offered in conjunction with the special exhibition Japan on Paper, on view at the Harvard Art Museums from May 25 through August 11, 2019.
The workshop will take place in the Materials Lab, Lower Level.
