In this workshop, which is part of the 2019 Harvard Medieval Material Culture Series, Eurydice Georganteli, lecturer on art history and numismatics at Harvard, will introduce participants to archaeological theory and praxis. She will focus in particular on the tools and techniques employed by the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis to uncover that ancient city’s rich past.
This workshop will take place in the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis office, at the Harvard Art Museums’ Somerville Research Facility, at 200 Inner Belt Road, in Somerville.
Admission is free and open to Harvard students, faculty, and community members with an interest in medieval material culture. Capacity is limited to 15 and registration is required. Registration information can be found here. Please be prepared to present a photo ID at check in.
