Images acquired for study purposes may not be reproduced without a separate written agreement from the Harvard Art Museums.

The Harvard Art Museums does not charge a fee for the use of our images.

"Social Settlement": The Social Settlement, Washington, D.C.: On the right, old barracks occupied until a few years ago by colored tenants. Demolished through the agency of the Sanitary Housing Committee of the Associated Charities. On the left, sanitary tenements put up by a company formed in this committee, and rent at low rates to negroes.
