Technical Observations: The patina of 171.1972 is green and black with underlying red and heavy gray-brown burial accretions. The patina of 172.1972 is green with areas of blue and some brown burial accretions. One of the necks on 171.1972 is cracked most of the way through and is slightly fragile. Both pendants have areas of well-preserved original surface.
The pendants were cast from wax models made directly in the wax. A minimal amount of cold working was used to decorate and refine the necks, feet, and faces. The well-preserved areas of the surfaces are very smooth and may have been burnished.
