Virtual Student Guide Tour: Renée Sintenis’s Daphne: The Maker and the Myth, with Mei Tercek and Sophia Mautz

Tour
Sophia Mautz ’21 and Mei Tercek ’21 talk with each other about one of their favorite works of art: Renée Sintenis’s bronze sculpture of the nymph Daphne, which was cast in Berlin in 1930. Sophia has featured it in her tour about the construction of feminine beauty, and Mei talked about it in her tour focused on the creative power of decay. Their conversation will touch on the sculptor’s relationship to German Expressionism, literary interpretations of the Daphne myth, and their personal connections to the work.
