This event requires registration; see further details below.
Join us for a weaving workshop with Katherine Santos, a member of the Choctaw-Apache Tribe and Fellow for Indigenous Art at Harvard’s Fine Arts Library. We will explore how weaving and storytelling intersect for many Indigenous nations in the United States and learn the history behind weaving materials used on this land for millennia. With Santos’s guidance, participants will practice foundational weaving techniques in community with one another. You will also have a chance to design and create a woven bookmark and add a line to a collaborative bead loom.
All materials will be provided.
The hands-on session will take place in the Materials Lab on the Lower Level.
$15 workshop fee. Registration is required and space is limited; registration will open on this form, beginning on Wednesday, March 26. Workshop fee must be paid to confirm registration. Minimum age of 14; no previous experience required.
