Karen Gausch leads the team of exhibition art installers and collections care staff, developing and executing plans for all aspects of exhibition installation. To prepare for such complex projects, she coordinates with curators, designers, conservators, professors, fellow collections management staff, and facilities and security staff.
Before working at the museums, Gausch held positions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum. She has staged exhibitions in Japan and has developed earthquake damage mitigation for art collections. She has published an article in the Journal of the American Institute for Conservation on mounting Japanese lanterns for exhibition, as well as other articles on storage and rehousing methods for costume accessories.
