Peter Murphy is an art historian, curator, and critic, specializing in modern, contemporary, and queer art history. His current research in the Busch-Reisinger Museum explores the intersections of art and identity in the work of artists from German-speaking countries after 1980. He is especially interested in examining how queerness manifests and operates in the work of these artists after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Murphy’s doctoral dissertation and current book project focus on the relationship between queerness and figuration in modern and contemporary painting from Europe and the United States.
