Art Study Center Seminar: Dutch and Flemish Drawings
Seminar
Harvard Art Museums32 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA
This event is at capacity
The Harvard Art Museums hold one of the most comprehensive U.S. collections of Netherlandish, Dutch, and Flemish drawings from the 15th to 18th century. A selection will be on display in the exhibition Drawings from the Age of Bruegel, Rubens, and Rembrandt (May 21–August 14, 2016), which celebrates the publication of a catalogue of the same title. Join catalogue authors William W. Robinson, curator emeritus of drawings, and Susan Anderson, curatorial research associate for Dutch and Flemish drawings, for a seminar that will highlight important drawings not on view in the exhibition, including works by Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Abraham Bloemaert, and Jan van Goyen. Penley Knipe, the Philip and Lynn Straus Conservator of Works of Art on Paper in the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies, will provide insights into the artists’ working methods.
The seminar will take place in the Art Study Center, Level 4.
