Know Before You Go

General Policies

Noncommercial photography and filming by visitors is permitted, except of works of art or exhibitions accompanied by a “no photo” icon. Use of flash, tripods, monopods, or camera extension poles is not permitted.

Please be advised that upon entering the museums, you may be photographed or recorded (audio and/or video) by the museums for marketing purposes.

All bags are subject to inspection.

Please use the self-service lockers on Level 1 (L1) and the Lower Level (LL) to check larger items, including umbrellas, briefcases, backpacks, rigid baby carriers, and other items larger than 11 × 14 inches. Bags containing medical equipment or for use in childcare are allowed if tagged upon arrival. Gallery-safe strollers can be requested at the Visitor Services desk.

Please refrain from touching the art.

Please note that children under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adult.

Pens, markers, paint, colored pencils, charcoal, ink, and pastels are not permitted. Graphite pencils are available at the Visitor Services desk.

Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.

No food, beverages, or gum in the galleries. Only food and beverages from the museum cafe are permitted inside the building and must be enjoyed only in designated areas in the courtyard or Lower Level (LL).

No scooters inside the building.

Our dedicated staff are here to make your visit safe and enjoyable. Abusive, harassing, discriminatory, or threatening language or behavior toward visitors or staff will not be tolerated.

Visitors agree to abide by the guidelines on the museums’ website and by all instructions posted in the museums or provided by staff during the visit. If a visitor or member of their party fails to follow the museums’ guidelines and instructions, they may be denied entry or required to leave the premises.
