Bahadır Yıldırım administers the publication and research activities of the Archaeological Exploration of Sardis at the Harvard Art Museums. He specializes in Greek and Roman art and archaeology, with research interests in Hellenistic and Roman sculpture and cultural identities, particularly in the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire. He has facilitated archaeological research in Turkey as director of the Ankara Branch of the American Research Institute in Turkey (2002–8) and has participated in archaeological excavations in Turkey at Aphrodisias (1993–2009). At the latter site, he served as field director from 2008 to 2009. At Sardis, he is assistant director of the excavations.
