Descriptions
- Description
- Several motifs repeat over this band: a pair of figures being crowned by a taller central figure, and two riders atop spotted horses who turn to face a small figure with arms raised standing in between them. Highly abstract style.
- Commentary
-
The repeating motif of a pair of figures being crowned by a taller central figure possibly represents a wedding, since comparable scenes appear on contemporary marriage rings. The majority of the band’s design is done in undyed yarn on an indigo background; however, at the very bottom of the band and partially cut off is a medallion with a dancing figure executed in indigo yarn on an undyed background.
