Its stock consists of groceries, drapery, household articles, boots and shoes, toys, clothing, dairy goods, and bread. More than 1/6 of the goods sold are obtained at wholesale. Six co-operative dairies supply the butter. 12 bakers' ovens annually produce 10,000,000 lbs. of bread. Its bakers work day and night in 8 hour shifts. Dresden authorities have been hostile to the Society and added a new tax on turnover and branches, obliging it to increase prices of goods, with the express object of protecting the smaller dealer. 2/3 of its employees are women.
