It is one of the largest German societies with 51 distributive branches, dealing in groceries, drapery, household articles, boots and shoes. Its productive department has mills, a bakery, dairy, laundry, and mineral water factory, employing a total of 779 persons. The Society pays a dividend of 10% and yearly sets aside a large sum for charitable, educational and other purposes. Every week it distributes 15000 copies of the Cooperative Journal gratis.
