1967.79.807: Study for “The Tug Boat”
Archival MaterialThe drawing in black ink show the final layout of the objects in the painting “The Tug Boat” in a square across the bottom half of the sheet. There is handwriting at the top which reads “the logic of a thing is not the reason for it, but the fact of it.” The drawing shows an outline of the composition of the painting in a roughly drawn square. The shapes drawn suggest the final objects and are not precisely executed.
