BR30.78: A Scholar in His Study ("Faust")
PrintsThe man (Faust) stands in three quarter pose on the left turning away from us looking into the large window in the upper right. The clear panes of glass form an arched pattern, as illuminated rays with a medallion-like configuration of letters beam from the lower center of the window. He supports himself on the table with his right hand. There’s a skull behind him on a shelf on left, and sketched globe in the lower right. The image is rendered in strong contrast of light and shadows.
