Description
Small ceramic sculpture created as a tomb model representing a stove with two figures tending pots and pans; light gray stoneware with yellow green glaze over the exterior and underside. Place of manufacture uncertain, probably southern China.
Commentary
Compare to:
(1) Celadon tomb model of virtually the same composition attributed to the Southern Dynasties period excavated in 1979 in Yongxiu county, Jiangxi province, now in the Jiangxi Provincial Museum. See Zhongguo taoci quanji [The Complete Works of Chinese Ceramics], vol. 4: Sanguo, liang Jin, nanbei chao [Three-Kingdoms, Western and Eastern Jin, Northern and Southern dynasties] (Shanghai: Shanghai renmin meishu chubanshe, 2000), no. 210, pp. 198 and 300.
(2) Celadon tomb model of very similar composition attributed to the Southern Dynasties period in the Shanghai Museum collection. See ibid., no. 209, pp. 198 and 300.
