Three large black-and-white prints abut to show a whole scene of a mother and her sons in a living room, at life-size scale. Just left of center, the mother sits in profile on a wooden chair. She wears sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and furry slippers. Her two sons wear sweatpants and sweatpants. She holds a bath towel on her knee, and rests her left arm on the table next to her. On the table is a laptop, which one of her sons is working on. He is also seated on a wooden chair, wears slippers in the shape of dinosaurs, and looks to his left at his mother. Beyond them is a large window looking out onto another house and framing the branches of a large tree without any leaves. To the left of the mother is a plastic laundry basket full of linens; two folded bath towels sit on top of the pile. Next to her son’s chair is a large stuffed animal in the shape of rabbit. In the center of the room, the other young son plays with a wooden puzzle of train tracks. He sits on his knees and looks down as he fits two of the pieces together. Several pieces of track are on the floor around him, and the open box with the rest of the track is on the floor to his left. Next to the box are several small blocks, some stacked and some by themselves. A small stuffed Mickey Mouse lays on the floor among the blocks. To the young boy’s right is an open notebook with five large pens on top of, and around it. To the boy’s right is the door to the room, which is open. The space beyond the room is blank and black. On the wall behind the mother and to her left is a framed picture of a woman’s head and bust. Behind the seated boy to the right is a calendar. To the right of the younger boy on the wall is a framed diploma, and below that on a bookshelf is small wooden sculpture of a seated figure.
