2018.33.62.5: Aktion, Poland 1939-45
PrintsRendered in washes of grainy, textured black ink, and delicate thin lines, groups of naked women in an open yard are accosted by military officers. Three women stand at center, one with her hands raised in fear, another with indistinct facial features, and a third protectively holding an infant. At upper right, a man in an officer’s uniform yells and points at them with his hand, or possibly a gun. At lower left an officer n horseback orders another woman cowering before him. In the background at upper right, women huddled in another group look on. The number 5 is superimposed over them in black.
