2018.33.4.2: Here Sandals
PrintsOn heavy white paper with feathered edges, black and white photographs are printed in blank space. At lower left is a photo, the background trimmed away, of a rider on a horse, facing away from us and turning to the left. Above, at center, an isolated photo of two bunches of bananas, shown horizontally, still attached to branches cut from a tree. Blank space in the shape of an arm cuts into the image. Below, the shape of the rest of the person carrying the bunches continues in an embossed outline in blank space. A block of text in small aqua blue type is printed beneath the images at center bottom: “Here, Sandals has created our newest resort / an ultra-luxurious testament to Jamaica’s storied past / as well as a stunning tribute to the glories of Europe.”
