2017.244: Young Girl Braiding her Hair
PrintsThe fair-skinned woman sits between a flat stone wall on left and column on the right, with a mountainous landscape seen in the distance. Her drapery garment is off the shoulders, revealing her back, as her face is turned away from us. Her arms are bent at the elbows as they work on a second braid. Her bare feet peak out, her right foot toes touch the square-tiled floor while her left foot rests on a short decorative platform pointing right. The aquatint print drawing is rendered in gradations of deep browns.
