Inscriptions and Marks (not assigned): This print and the others in this group of thirteen prints of ornament for lock escutcheons (including one design for a key), are all, it seems, reprints from a later date, perhaps the 19th or early 20th century. They are printed in the chine applique technique, that is, on an exceptionally thin paper laid down on a secondary support in the process of printing. The secondary support is French paper from the late 17th or 18th century. The plates themselves, however, date from the early 17th century and do not comprise a set.
