- drawing: The blank center of the central ornament, an indented square, is covered with a grid drawn in black chalk, its lines spaced approximately one-eighth inch apar, coinciding with the pattern of the ornament. The lines in each axis extend beyond the ornament into the arms of a diagonally set cross-shaped form.
