There are numerous foot prints next to the words, which run parallel to the water and tideline. The typed inscription below the image reads DUG OUT SAND (1969) / 3' X 19' / SHORELINE NEAR NEWARK, NEW JERSEY. Along the bottom edge of the artwork there is a handwritten inscription with the edition number and artist's signature.
