Descriptions

Commentary
Boucher created a set of drawn illustrations to Moliere's works in 1734-35, which were soon engraved and published by Fessard and Cars in Oeuvres de Moliere, reaching a broad audience. La Critique de l'Ecole des Femmes is the title of one of Moliere's comedies, written in 1663. Boucher's illustrations place Moliere's characters in contemporary Parisian settings.
