Botanical watercolor drawing of a stem and leaf of the Amaranthus plant.

A delicate stem of six salmon-pink slender panicles of tiny flowers rest under one large heart-shaped medium green leaf with well-defined veins that emanate from the center to the outer edge of the leaf. The panicles are fanned out and reach up as the stem forks into two divisions, the leaf points downward toward the left. The stem is slender and light green in color. Slight shadows underneath both give depth and dimensionality to the drawing; the background is antique white. Manuscript of the Latin name in the lower right.
