Chemical Composition: XRF data from Artax 1 and Tracer
Alloy: Bronze
Alloying Elements: copper, tin
Other Elements: lead, iron, nickel, arsenic
Comments: 140.1972.A and 140.1972.B have the same elements.
K. Eremin, January 2014Technical Observations: The patina is a mottled blackish brown with green spots and some cuprite. There is some friable light brown material, most likely wax, over green crystals in the recesses. These two bracelets, 140.1972.A and 140.1972.B, are of very similar manufacture and were probably a pair.
The bracelets were likely made by bending solid bronze rods. The zigzag and herringbone decorative features were created in the metal after the bracelet was shaped. The finish is smooth.
