1932.179: Studies of Drapery for the Figure of Virgil in "The Apotheosis of Homer"
DrawingsThe drawing depicts a man pressing a loose garment to his left breast. The man’s face is in profile to the right, and his right shoulder and arm are uncovered. The draped garment is depicted in greater detail than the figure, with suggestions of light and shadow in white and black chalk. The sleeve falling from his left arm has suggestions of woven detail along the hanging hem. Behind the primary figure toward the upper right of the page is a less detailed figure in a similar position, the drapery slightly changed.
