The man at the piano on the right leans into the woman in the center, his face caresses her hand that’s delicately touching the piano. She faces us, yet her eyes look to the right with eyebrows raised and slight smile. The second woman on the left has her back to us, she’s reading a long, curled sheet of music, her head turned slightly left. Both women wear long eighteenth-century gowns, their hair up in a fancy style. Light enters from the right, beyond the piano, illuminating the romantic gesture. There’s a cello tucked in the shadows behind the piano.
