Light charcoal lines on a tall vertical sheet of off white paper trace the outline of a seated man in profile facing left. Soft thin lines show a calm expression on his face, with a full beard, brushed back hair and a high forehead. He wears a coat over a vest and sharply creased trousers. His left arm at his side, he crosses his right leg in front of his left, but the feet and his hand are omitted.
