Following Sir Thomas Lawrence’s death in 1830 several years went by before the collection passed to Samuel Woodburn in 1835 due to some complications with stipulations in the will. 2. When Agnes Mongan offered the drawing to the museum in 1984, she stated that she had owned the drawing for a long time, at least fifty years.
