The drawing in graphite on white paper depicts a woman seated for a portrait, facing left page, her gaze directed at the viewer. Her left arm rests across her waist, and her right hand holds her chin. She wears a long dress with sleeves ending in voluminous spills of lace, and a frilled bonnet tied under her chin holds back dark, straight hair. She sits in a side chair, and a table with a book atop it is to her right.
