63.1908: Fragment of Arretine Ware: Winged Victory
FragmentsThis red-brown terracotta rectangular fragment is decorated in low relief with an image of a youthful woman with feathered wings. She is seen in right profile. Her head and hair, which is pulled back into a ponytail, fills the upper right corner of the fragment. Her body extends diagonally downward to the lower left corner of the fragment, where it is chipped at where her knee would have been. She gazes downward, extending her right arm, which is broken off at her elbow, outward to where she is gazing. She wears a thin dress that flows behind her.
