1932.56.122.1: Lid of a Cinerary Urn with Reclining Figure
SculptureA pale terracotta rectangular slab with traces of white paint has a modeled figure reclining at center. At top center the figure’s head, modeled in high relief, rests on a pillow that is almost as wide as the slab. The eyes are wide and the red pupils are accented by traces of the surrounding white paint. The head is round, with smiling lips and full cheeks. Below, the figure’s body is indistinct under the folds of a blanket. More traces of white remain in the lower parts of the creases and ridges.
