I stood in the yard by the old tree where I had spent time years ago. Back then, it was rare to be allowed outside. I often think back to my time spent within these walls, but its like some blurred dream that comes to me in disjointed pieces. I sometimes think about what it would be like if the illness returned and I had to go back to that inside world again. My life seems so normal now. I go about my day with only an occasional flash back. The day to day decisions of navigating through this life seem charged with the dark memory that my blood carries. So different than life in that room and the battle with the disease that took over the fiber of my being. The other patients seemed so scary at the beginning, and at the end of my stay seemed like family, brother-ers on the same voyage. I know some are still in the fiery part of their struggle and others are long buried.
