-
- inscription: in plate, upper left corner: Rembrandt f / 1640
- watermark: Arms of Amsterdam [Hinterding v. 2, p. 312 assigns this to Arms of Amsterdam B, variant D.zz, with the zz indicating that he has not seen it. Looking at the reproductions, it seems to be B.D-g, v. 3, p. 34, as it has a fleur-de-lys at the base of the crown. No Arms of Amsterdam watermarks appear on Rembrandt etchings earlier than 1656; this would seem to be a late or posthumous impression.]
- inscription: verso, graphite: E. H. G. [Edward Hale Greenleaf, his mark made during a late 19th-c. inventory of the Gray Collection]
- collector's mark: verso, faded purple stamp with graphite numbering within: [Gray Collection accession stamp (Lugt 4836)] 3272
- inscription: verso, various graphite inscriptions: B 265. / 17.11.T.i
