Four people are situated on the front stone steps of a home; the wooden door is wide open.

An older man (Jacob) seated on the steps on left looks distraught with both arms upraised as he arches back, he looks up with a troubled face and open mouth. His two young adult sons are handing him the coat of their brother Joseph. One son kneels before him, the other stands in the middle leaning in towards Jacob’s face, his left hand pointing to the right. An elder woman stands in the doorway on left looking at the sons, head lowered and hands in a pleading gesture, a worried look on her face. The background is sketched undefined trees.
