G3240: Christ Crucified between the Two Thieves
PrintsBeams of light emanate from top, casting light on Christ in the center on a cross and a second cross in three-quarter view on left. Deep shadow almost hides a third cross on right. A few men sit on horseback below on left, one solider holds up a sword, the other wears robes and a tall turban-like hat holding up a spear. Another man behind them controls a horse with its front legs up. There’s a crowd of people in the shadows on right. The print is rendered in dramatic contrast of lights and darks, strong etched lines provide texture.
