G195: Apollo and Daphne
PrintsAn engraving of several figures in a field with long stalks of grass. On the left, a nude male figure is mid-motion, his hands grabbing a semi-nude female figure in front of him. She is mid-motion as well, her arms raised above her head and plants growing from the tips of her fingers. In the foreground to the right, three reclining semi-nude figures watch the scene in front of them. The image is surrounded by a decorative circular frame of cornstalks, with a ribbon that reads: "For the benefit of Mr. Giardini."
