M13343: The Photographer Sescau
PrintsAgainst a flat yellow-green background, fluid black lines depict a scene with two figures. At left in the extreme foreground, a woman faces us, appearing to move away to the left, glancing over her shoulder. She wears a sheer yellow veil, black gloves, and holds a pair of opera glasses and a yellow handkerchief. Her cloak and dress have a matching question mark motif pattern. At right in the background, under the cloth of a camera, only a man’s protruding legs are visible as he leans in, pointing the camera at the woman. A hand lettered address across the top and along the bottom the name and title, “P. Sescau Photographe” are printed in rose colored ink.
