M12452: Yvette Guilbert
PrintsLightly sketched lines and pale washes on gray paper depict a standing woman in profile, seen from the waist up. She faces right but regards the viewer from the corner of her eye, and smiles, tilting her head back slightly. She wears dark makeup on her eyes and lips, has a prominent nose and a long neck. She wears a sleeveless evening gown with long dark arm length gloves. A block of hand lettered text occupies the center and upper right of the sheet that reads, “Yvette Guilbert Drawn by H. de Toulouse Lautrec”. At bottom right is a handwritten name, “Yvette Guilbert”.
