A man is surrounded by Roman soldiers with spears as they push him through an outdoor courtyard space.

A solider in front with his back to us grabs the man’s (Christ) hair with his right hand as he raises his right foot to him. Another solider near the center grabs at Christ’s chest to pull him forward. A man behind him pulls a rope strung around Christ’s neck. His hands are tied behind his back with a distressed look on his face as he tries to turn looking behind him. The scene is dramatically lit with light coming from the arch on the left as the people spill out, moving from left to right.
