A carved stone grotesque figure overlooking an aerial view of the city of Paris

Set in a vertical oval shape at the center of the page, this city scene is etched in fine dark brown lines on pale green paper. Looming in the foreground at right is a stone carving of a monstrous figure in profile looking left. Wings folded behind it, it sticks out its tongue and holds its horned head in its hands, resting its elbows high atop a building’s cornice. Stretching out in the distance below are the buildings of the city of Paris, including the tall tower of Saint-Jacques at center. Dark birds fly around in front of the figure, and in the distance against a cloudy sky.
