- inscription: verso, brown ink: Hillier / 1784 [See Lugt 1974, where a completely different mark is discussed as not being that of Nathaniel Hillier (1707-1783), a London print and drawing dealer. An estate sale of Hillier's stock, or collection, took place in 1784; presumably this inscription was made by the buyer of this impression, recording the purchase.]
