    JWR[transcribed from the original mount]:"Adoration of the shepherds, but not by Raffaelle; It is the work of Andrea Meldolla or Schiavone and is so dated by Mariette; The portrait on the column is that of the first publisher GB Franceshi; Second state without Bloemaert's address, but with that of the publisher 'de Rubeis' of de Rossi; The collector's monogram on the back will be figured in the 3rd sheet of plates in Maberly's Collectors' Manual."
