Descriptions

Commentary
The date is derived from "The Height of the Gale," a comparable monotype of surf crashing onto a rocky shore, in the catalogue: American Monotypes of ther Early Twentieth Century, for an exhibition at the Alan N. Stone Gallery, Northhampton, MA, 6 December 1976-8 January 1977, no. 6. The monotypes in that exhibition and this one came from the daughter of the artist, Mrs. Carleton Coon, of Gloucester, MA.
