A bearded man in long robes kneels at his bedside in praying posture, framed by the bed’s open canopy curtain.

The Man (King David) rests his chin on his praying hands looking up, his eyes, nose, and chin illuminated as if from above. The side of his face and his hands are in shadow. We see him in three quarter view behind his left side as he looks left and upward. He’s wearing a long white sleeping robe and slippers and kneels on a pillow. A harp lies on the floor flat in the foreground lower center, partly in shadow. Bed curtains are gathered up, resting on the bedposts. Fringed blankets hand off the bed almost to the floor.
