The painting with a soft, muted and indistinct overall appearance, shows a group of men in a narrow passage with a beamed structure in background. The man in the foreground on the left is seated leaning against a wall. Two men stand slightly behind him on the right, one is leaning forward, the other is in profile. A group of several men stand on the left in the background. The beamed structure in the top of the background has a wavy blurred look, beneath is another structure of crossed beams. The painting is done in shades of gray highlighted with black.
